Role Overview
The Shutdown Planner is the brain behind every successful turnaround. Before a single wrench is turned, the planner has built the work breakdown structure, sequenced every task, assigned resources, and identified the critical path. You’ll use Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project to build and maintain the shutdown schedule, track daily progress, forecast completion, and flag risks before they become delays. This role requires both technical knowledge of plant maintenance activities and strong planning discipline.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the shutdown schedule in Primavera P6 or MS Project
- Build work breakdown structures covering all mechanical, piping, electrical, and inspection activities
- Identify critical path activities and resource constraints
- Track daily progress and update the schedule with actual completion data
- Prepare daily and weekly progress reports for the client’s project team
- Coordinate with supervisors to forecast resource requirements for each phase
- Conduct schedule risk analysis and recommend mitigation actions
Required Qualifications & Certifications
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering
- 5–12 years of planning experience in industrial shutdowns and turnarounds
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 (mandatory) and MS Project
- Understanding of refinery and petrochemical plant maintenance activities
- Experience with earned value management and S-curve reporting
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
