Rotating Equipment Technician

5–12 years Pan-India Evergreen

Role Overview

Rotating Equipment Technicians are specialists in maintaining pumps, compressors, turbines, blowers, and other rotating machinery in continuous process plants. You’re not a general mechanical fitter — you’re a precision specialist who understands bearing clearances, vibration signatures, alignment tolerances, and seal systems. Plants rely on rotating equipment technicians to maximise equipment availability and minimise unplanned downtime. This is a premium skill set that commands premium compensation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform overhaul, repair, and maintenance of centrifugal and reciprocating pumps, compressors, and turbines
  • Execute precision shaft alignment using laser alignment tools
  • Monitor and analyse vibration data to identify bearing, imbalance, and misalignment issues
  • Replace mechanical seals, bearings, couplings, and other rotating components
  • Maintain equipment history and contribute to reliability improvement programmes
  • Assist in root cause failure analysis for repeated equipment failures
  • Coordinate with OEM service engineers during major overhauls

Required Qualifications & Certifications

  • Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5–12 years of rotating equipment maintenance experience in a process plant, power plant, or refinery
  • Hands-on experience with pump overhauls, compressor maintenance, and turbine servicing
  • Proficiency with laser alignment tools (Fixturlaser, SKF TKSA) and vibration analysers
  • Knowledge of API 610, API 617, and API 682 standards
  • Understanding of condition-based maintenance and predictive maintenance techniques
