Role Overview
Project Controls Engineers manage the cost and schedule control systems that keep projects on track financially. You’ll track budgets vs actuals, process contractor invoices, manage variation orders, forecast final project costs, and prepare management reports. In EPC projects where budgets run into hundreds of crores, project controls is the function that prevents cost overruns from going undetected until it’s too late.
Key Responsibilities
- Track project costs against approved budgets and highlight variances
- Process contractor invoices and verify measurement-based billing
- Manage change orders, variation requests, and claims
- Prepare cost forecasts and estimate-at-completion (EAC) reports
- Integrate schedule and cost data for earned value analysis
- Maintain project cost databases and monthly management reports
- Support tender evaluation and cost estimating for new work packages
Required Qualifications & Certifications
- B.E./B.Tech in Engineering or B.Com/MBA with project controls experience
- 3–10 years of project controls experience at EPC or construction projects
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, macros, dashboards)
- Experience with cost management software (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent)
- Knowledge of EVM concepts and cost engineering principles
- AACE certification (CCE or CCP) is a plus
