HSE Officer (NEBOSH / IOSH)

Role Overview

HSE Officers are responsible for implementing and enforcing health, safety, and environment management systems at project and plant sites. You’ll conduct safety inspections, toolbox talks, risk assessments, incident investigations, and ensure compliance with client HSE standards and Indian regulatory requirements (Factories Act, BOCW Act). In heavy industry, the HSE Officer is the conscience of the site — the person who has the authority to stop unsafe work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and enforce the project/plant HSE management system
  • Conduct daily safety inspections, toolbox talks, and safety audits
  • Prepare Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and risk assessments for all work activities
  • Investigate incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions — prepare investigation reports with corrective actions
  • Manage work permit systems (hot work, confined space, height work, excavation)
  • Conduct HSE induction training for all new personnel arriving on site
  • Maintain HSE statistics (LTI, TRI, near-miss frequency rate) and prepare monthly HSE reports
  • Ensure compliance with Factories Act, BOCW Act, and environmental regulations

Required Qualifications & Certifications

  • NEBOSH IGC or IOSH Managing Safely certification (mandatory)
  • Diploma or degree in Safety/Fire/Environmental Engineering preferred
  • 3–10 years of HSE experience at heavy industry, construction, or EPC sites
  • Knowledge of Indian safety legislation (Factories Act 1948, BOCW Act)
  • Experience with permit-to-work systems and emergency response planning
  • First aid and fire safety training certification
