EHS Manager

Role Overview

EHS Managers lead the entire environment, health, and safety function at large project sites or operating plants. You’re responsible for strategy, systems, compliance, culture, and results. This is a leadership role — you manage a team of HSE officers and safety supervisors, interface with client leadership on safety performance, and drive the organisation’s safety culture from the top. Metro deploys EHS Managers to mega-projects and long-duration plant assignments where clients need senior safety leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the site EHS management system aligned with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001
  • Lead a team of HSE officers and safety supervisors across multiple work fronts
  • Set EHS targets (zero LTI, near-miss reporting rates) and drive performance improvement
  • Interface with client leadership on safety performance, audits, and improvement initiatives
  • Conduct management safety reviews, incident trend analysis, and root cause investigations
  • Manage regulatory compliance (Factories Act, Environment Protection Act, BOCW Act)
  • Drive safety culture transformation — behaviour-based safety programmes, safety leadership workshops
  • Prepare and submit statutory returns and environmental compliance reports

Required Qualifications & Certifications

  • B.E./B.Tech + NEBOSH International Diploma or M.Sc. in Safety Engineering
  • 10–18 years of EHS experience in heavy industry, with at least 3 years in a managerial role
  • Lead Auditor certification for ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001
  • Experience managing EHS teams of 5–15 personnel at large sites
  • Track record of zero-LTI performance across multiple projects
  • Strong leadership, communication, and client relationship management skills
