Role Overview
Construction Supervisors (Mechanical) lead the installation and erection of mechanical equipment, piping systems, and structural steel at greenfield and brownfield project sites. Unlike maintenance supervisors who work on existing equipment, you’re building from scratch — interpreting engineering drawings, coordinating with civil and electrical teams, and ensuring every installation meets quality standards before handover. This role is the bridge between engineering and execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise mechanical erection of equipment, piping, and structural steel at project sites
- Interpret engineering drawings (GA, P&ID, isometrics) and ensure field compliance
- Coordinate with civil, electrical, and instrumentation teams for integrated execution
- Monitor construction progress and report against project milestones
- Ensure quality compliance at every stage — fit-up checks, weld inspections, dimensional checks
- Manage and deploy mechanical construction crews of 20–60 personnel
- Conduct safety toolbox talks and enforce construction site safety protocols
Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
- 5–15 years of mechanical construction experience at EPC project sites
- Experience with equipment erection (vessels, columns, heat exchangers, tanks)
- Strong drawing reading skills (GA, P&ID, isometrics, structural drawings)
- Knowledge of construction quality standards (ASME, AWS, client specifications)
- Experience working with EPC contractors (L&T, Thermax, Tata Projects, or similar)
