Inspection & QA/QC

NDT Technician — Level II

3–10 years Pan-India Evergreen

Role Overview

NDT Level II Technicians perform non-destructive testing on welds, castings, forgings, and equipment to detect subsurface and surface defects without damaging the component. You’ll conduct and interpret radiographic testing (RT), ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MPT), and dye penetrant testing (DPT) examinations. NDT is the final quality gate before a weld or component is accepted — your interpretation directly determines whether the work passes or needs repair.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform NDT examinations using RT, UT, MPT, and/or DPT methods
  • Interpret examination results and determine acceptance/rejection per applicable codes
  • Prepare NDT examination reports with accurate defect mapping and disposition
  • Calibrate and maintain NDT equipment per standard requirements
  • Follow radiation safety procedures for radiographic testing (AERB regulations)
  • Coordinate with welding inspectors and QA/QC engineers on inspection sequences
  • Maintain NDT qualification records and participate in periodic re-certification

Required Qualifications & Certifications

  • Valid ASNT Level II or PCN Level 2 certification in at least two NDT methods (mandatory)
  • 3–10 years of NDT experience in heavy industry (refinery, pipeline, fabrication, EPC sites)
  • Proficiency in RT and UT methods (preferred: multi-method qualified)
  • Knowledge of ASME Section V, ASNT SNT-TC-1A, and EN ISO 9712
  • AERB approval for handling radioactive sources (for RT technicians)
  • Experience with advanced UT techniques (TOFD, phased array) is a plus
